This method is intended as a qualitative method to detect COS in liquid propane at the ppm level. The data obtained during the development of this method do not indicate that it provides a sufficiently accurate determination for product certification and this method should not be used for certification purposes. A chromatographic method is recommended to obtain the most precise and accurate determination of COS in propane especially when COS quantity is critical as in the case of some processes where COS can convert to H2S which is toxic and corrosive.
