This document outlines the purpose of the AMCAInternational Economizer Damper and Return Air DamperSecondary Labeling Program (SLP). The program exists toprovide code and other regulatory authorities assurance thata damper found in labeled equipment that may not be easilyvisible meets regulatory or building code requirements.
The scope includes volume control dampers used as economizerdampers and return air dampers found in various typesof heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) devices.The dampers are required to be low leakage in order toperform their intended function. The devices in which thesedampers are mostly found include air handling units, rooftop units, etc.
This document will provide the procedure by which eligiblecompanies may obtain a license or a sublicense to place thelabel on their products if a duly qualified damper is used inthe product.
