Scope:This method describes a procedure useful for theevaluation of the efficacy of wood preservative formulationsin soil contact. The procedure has historically been describedby the terms fungus cellar, soil bed, facility for acceleratedbiodeterioration or accelerated field simulator. In the scopeof this Standard, fungal cellar and field simulator areconsidered to be too restrictive as descriptors. Soil bed is thepreferred terminology. This test method is intended to be ascreening test. It may also be used in providing informationfor standardization of protection treatments.
