Tertiary recycling is rapidly evolving as the process of choice for reclaiming otherwise difficult to recycle materials such as composites, electronics, and plastic mixtures. In the Adherent Technologies tertiary recycling system, polymer fractions are converted into a gaseous mixture of low molecular weight hydrocarbons with a low-temperature (200 deg C) catalytic process termed catalytic conversion. This program was undertaken to determine the feasibility of applying the catalytic conversion process for tertiary recycling of F-18 composite aircraft components.
