THE RESEARCH TEAM EMBARKED ON A PROJECT TO OPTIMIZE LIFT TO DRIVE RATIOS OF ORIFICE JETS ON AIR ACCUMULATORS FOR TWO-PIECE BEVERAGE CAN MANUFACTURING APPLICATIONS. THE INTENT WAS TO MINIMIZE SINGLE CAN SPEEDS AT PRESSURES THAT WOULD MOVE AN ACCUMULATED PACK. IT WAS DETERMINED THROUGH EMPIRICAL TESTING THAT A DIFFUSING/DAMPERING SYSTEM UNDERNEATH THE DECK PLATE ORIFICES IS REQUIRED TO OPTIMIZE DECK PLATE PERFORMANCE. IT WAS FURTHER DETERMINED THAT THIS DIFFUSER/DAMPER SYSTEM HAD MANY SIDE BENEFITS TO THE END USER.
