In order to reduce the production costs and to increase the productivity, new technologies have to be developed. In machining of wrought aluminium alloys, cutting rates of 95% are common. High material removal rates and short production times are of decisive importance for the economical aspect of the cutting process. High-efficient machining is a possibility to reduce the production times significantly. In this paper, the potentials of a matched tool geometry with regard to material removal rate and achievable component quality are presented. It contains the manufacturing processes like drilling, reaming, and milling, as well as new machining strategies like circular milling of aluminium alloys.
